Delaney

Since its inception, photography has always occupied unique space between science and art. Its origins are intricately tied to experimentation, exploration, composition, and collection. It is this combination of empirical attributes and aesthetic qualities that attracted me to the medium, and is what I strive to emphasize in all of my work from documentary to fine art.

Collection 1 is an on-going project that attempts to turn simple observations into a series of aesthetic samples, made tangible by printing on small metal plates. This allows the images to become precious objects, ones that can be held, examined, and collected. Pulling inspiration from Japanese woodblock prints and Zen principles, prints are made by coating .22-gauge aluminum plates with white almond-gloss and liquid emulsion.

All images are 4 x 6" liquid emulsion on aluminum for $200 each (Open edition).
